WoW's 1st Year in Review | Part 3, Showcasing

Just today I received a referral from a fellow WoW member for our photo booth services. We have also done a number of events at the Sheraton since showcasing our booth at the Engagement Party!

In WoW's original vision, we knew our events would be the hub of our connection as a networking group. However, we wanted our events to be more than a social gathering. We wanted each event to be an experiential showcase of what we do best
Each event would echo some kind of wedding event - a ceremony, a reception, a bridal shower, a bachelorette party, etc. Our events' Showcase Sponsors would have the opportunity to give members and guests a taste of their products and services. For our Venue Sponsors, event-goers would be able to take in the atmosphere and the amenities that make each venue unique. By experiencing first-hand our Sponsors offerings, we would be better able to recommend one another to our clients.
Here are the highlights of our events throughout the year, and the Showcase Sponsors' offerings that made each event spectacular.
Our inaugural event took place in the light-filled atrium at the Inn at Laurel Point. Décor was provided by Magical Moments Decorating, with floral arrangements by Tara McHugh Flora. Models were beautified by Sharon Rai Hair & Makeup Artistry, and photos were taken by Deanna McCollum.
In March, we celebrated the coming of spring in the ballroom of Four Points by Sheraton at Victoria Gateway.Details Special Event Planning & Décor made the room bloom. We sampled delicious treats from Taste West Coast Catering, and experienced the services of Luna Photolounge. Still photos were taken by Nichole Taylor, while a video of our event was recorded by Persona Video.
April's event was an explosion of colour and creativity. The ballroom at Four Points by Sheraton was transformed into a Mad Hatter Tea Party, a theme rising in popularity for bridal showers. Taste West Coast Catering served up classic finger sandwiches and tea party sweets on Victoria Vintage China Rentals gorgeous chinaware. Our special guest "Alice" wore an original creation from Elise Tonn Designs; her hair and makeup were executed beautifully by Sharon Rai and her team. Guests were serenaded by the Respighi String Quartet.
WoW rolled out the red carpet for our May event. Event guests were shuttled by LA Limousines to our top secret warehouse location - the showroom for Decorate Victoria by Huff n' Puff. The paparazzi - Courtney Clarke Photography - was on hand to capture the red carpet arrivals. Cocktails and appies were served up by Truffles Catering, and guests were adorned with accessories by Gala Van Party Shop. Showcase Sponsors sported retro make-up looks by Sharon Rai.
WoW's June Event was the very first event of its kind. We were treated to a unique cultural experience: "Tony & Tajinder's Wedding" was a nod to the popular theatre hit "Tony & Tina's Wedding", where the audience was transformed into wedding guests. WoW's mock Hindu wedding included a gorgeous real-life couple, a verified Hindu priest, and parents that were played by prominent members of Victoria's Hindu community. The waterfront gazebo at the BW Premier Prestige Oceanfront Resort in Sooke offered a breath-taking background for the nupitals; the hotel also provided a taste of Indian cuisine. The stunning décor was provided by Magical Moments Decorating, while Creating Occasions supplied a beautiful wedding cake. Hair & makeup (and the couple's wedding garb) for the cast was provided by Sharon Rai Hair & Makeup Artistry. A Sea of Bloom provided the floral décor and bouquet, and the event was captured by E/A Photography.
July took Women of Weddings outside for a picnic at Kildara Farm on the Saanich Peninsula. The gorgeous natural setting made décor a breeze, and Fresh View Events added some country whimsy. We sampled tasty, healthy treats from Good For You Gourmet while listening to "Love Notes" by singer April Readie. Karen McNeil captured the beauty of the day in her photography.
WoW celebrated our 6-month anniversary in August with a fabulous bachelorette party on the Cedar Ultra Patio at the Four Points by Sheraton. Four Frames Photo Booth was on hand to capture hilarious moments. Refreshments were provided by Taste West Coast Catering. Brun Body & Hair Bar offered samples of sun-kissed suncare, and Avenue Weddings showed off their array of DIY wedding supplies.
WoW's first fall gathering took us back to Kildara Farm for a harvest-themed event. Fresh View Events set up a charming barn reception. JJ's Coffee House supplied sweet treats. The Wedding Experts magazine was on hand to display their latest issue, and photos were captured by WoW Event Photographer Rita Steenssens.
In October, WoW hosted our first evening event in the lovely Ambrosia Conference & Event Centre, who also provided us with delectable edibles. Details Special Event Planning & Décor created a cozy autumn theme, and Deanna McCollum captured the event in her gorgeous photography.
WoW got gussied up in our little black dresses for our Girls' Night Out in November. Our event took place at the luxurious Willow Stream Spa, where we were treated to mini-spa treatments by the spa's team of estheticians. We sampled food provided by the Fairmont Empress Hotel, and took in the sparkling ambiance created by Details Special Event Planning & Décor. The nightclub vibe was kept alive by DJ Liam from Airwaves Music, and we sampled skin care provided by B. Kamins.
WoW closed out 2013 with a festive holiday party in a loft-style venue hosted by Brun Body & Hair Bar. Kitchens of Distinction offered samples of their menu, while De Vine Vineyards plied us with tastings of their award-winning wines. Tiers of Joy took care of our sweet tooth, and Nichole Taylor snapped the candid moments with style.
Finally, our last WoW event was the first of 2014. With the stunning Hatley Castle at Royal Roads University serving as our backdrop, the regal atmosphere was enhanced by finishing touches from Trend Décor. Truffles Catering wowed us with their breakfast nibbles- a feast for the eyes and the mouth. Carpé Diem serenaded us with their sweet acoustic sounds.
WoW's Showcase Sponsors truly showed us what they are made of all year long, and the excellence we can expect from their venues, products and services.
