WoW Members First to Explore Victoria's Newest Wedding Locale
Posted By Victoria WoW July 21st, 2014
This July's event was an extra-special treat, as de Vine Vineyards used our morning together to announce their plans for their first wedding season, coming up in 2015, and to showcase their stunning vineyard, sure to become one of Victoria's prime wedding locations. WoW's monthly events are already must-attend affairs, but when de Vine Vineyards literally opened its white gates for us, many happy exclamations of 'where am I' were heard, setting the stage for a truly awe-inspiring morning.
Nestled in the heart of the Saanich Peninsula, de Vine Vineyards offers perfect views of the coast and the mountains, a romantic setting showcasing all the beauty of Vancouver Island. Our members were easily enchanted by the Old World charm of this 24-acre hidden gem and happy to be the first to hear about their plans. As prestige wedding service providers, we're always thinking about the bride's perspective, envisioning new ways to 'wow.' At events like this, as we luxuriate in the view and nibble our top refreshments, it's fun to let someone else take care of the wowing – which de Vine Vineyards did easily.
WoW member Shirley Lang, of Kitchens of Distinction, provided our amazing appies. It's important to sample our WoW colleagues' fare, to know exactly what we're recommending to our discerning couples. And if we have to 'force' ourselves to nosh on gourmet food in the process – so be it!
Since no visit to a winery is complete without a wine-tasting, our hosts treated us to samples of their divine (pun intended) organic offerings, both red and white. WoW Member Helen Windsor shared the winery's history, as her family created this beautiful, sustainable vineyard and winery that will surely be a popular wedding destination. They're already taking bookings for the 2015 wedding season, and we're sure they'll fill up fast.
Next, we networked in near-heaven, at a picnic table outside. With wine in our bellies and basking in the sun, we explored new options for bachelor and bachelorette parties. Brides look to us to stay current with wedding trends, so it's useful to have ideas to offer our couples that are tasteful, original and fun.
And we loved the ideas generated by our innovative members! For example, Mike Gilmore of Tail Wind Travel recommended zip-lining, paintball and bear watching – definitely out of the ordinary – and Amanda Price of The Gardens at HCP thought scavenger hunts, tastings, and tours of their grounds would make a fun day. And remember that if we're creative, many of our services can expand beyond the wedding day. Sharon Rai Hair & Makeup Artistry offers 'Ladies' Night In,' full of pampering for the bridal party, for example, and JoAnn Hirschi of Tiers of Joy Cakes, who has already gotten 5 direct referrals from her WoW membership, suggested she could make bachelor-themed cakes, like a bucket-of-beer-shaped piece.
Finally, we were treated to a tour of the winery, including walking the grounds where weddings will take place. Talk about idyllic. Now that we're in the height of wedding season, our events are particularly relevant, as they allow our members to experience venues exactly as their couples will. Thanks to Surveet Johal for once again taking such lovely photos. And thanks again to de Vine Vineyards for the fairytale-esque morning, and to Kitchens of Distinction for making it all so yummy! Our monthly events wouldn't take place without our awesome showcase sponsors, and we offer lots of perks - if you'd like to be one for a future event (and be featured in a future blog post, too!), please get in touch.
Finally, we're already looking forward to our next event, this August 12 at the stunning Villa Marco Polo - don't forget to RSVP now. This is a members-only event – and we ask that all members bring a 2015 bride. Don't worry – we haven't met anyone yet who'd pass up a free morning at a premier bed and breakfast and Tuscan garden, full of goodies, refreshments and drinks, and pressure-free advice from experts on how to make the wedding of their dreams! Some WoW members who haven't booked for 2015 yet have asked who to invite - we suggest reaching out on your social media to find brides who might be interested (we bet you'll find plenty!).
And members, please let us know in the comments – if you joined us this July, what was your favourite part of de Vine Vineyards? Any suggestions for our next WoW event?
