So Much Fun at our First WoW Event with Brides!

Posted By Victoria WoW August 20th, 2014

The verdict is in, and our first WoW Event to welcome brides was a big success, both for our members and the lovely brides who joined us. The Villa Marco Polo Inn, a little slice of Tuscany right here in Victoria, proved to be absolutely stunning – as you can see, thanks to these brilliant photos from Deanna McCollum Photography. It was a perfect refuge from our current crazy wedding schedules, a chance to relax, indulge, and make some great new contacts in the process.

We fell in love with the beautiful gardens at the Villa, as we're sure all guests do as they step into this hidden paradise. They've happily welcomed couples from all over the world, and we quickly saw what a delightful destination it must provide for proposals, engagement parties, private parties, weddings, and anniversaries.

The Villa Marco Polo Inn provided both savoury and sweet treats for this August event, and everyone got tours of their luxury B&B - including sneak-peaks of their sumptuous rooms. They greeted all guests with Italian-inspired wooden fans to get us in the Tuscan-mood, and gave us handmade chocolates (!) made by the Villa's Diana as parting gifts. And of course even better than the goodies was the truly inspiring space to sip champagne, linger, and chat.

Greeted with fresh blackberry iced tea and a friendly smile as we entered the Villa, each moment brought more delights as we lingered in the lush gardens, a gorgeous romantic backdrop we're sure lends to picture-perfect weddings and events (and clearly, we weren't the only ones to enjoy the beautiful fountain!).

We asked our brides for feedback, and all rated the event 10/10! And what they loved most was networking with so many top vendors. Armed with exclusive new WoW Wedding Organizers (brides, get yours here!), our brides were ready to learn, and prepared with these tips, our members were ready to speed-network. In casual locations throughout the gardens, each meeting was relaxed and pressure-free, but powerful, too. Each bride had 5 minutes to meet and chat with each vendor, giving them a chance to see if they were a good fit for their weddings. Having all of Victoria's top wedding vendors in one place certainly makes wedding planning easy, so we're excited for more speed-networking events soon - please stay tuned!

Given that each bride specifically named 3 or 4 companies she'd like to work with for her wedding, we'd say our members enjoyed the networking, too! Several brides mentioned they'd like to have met some cake vendors, as well as more event planning and rental companies. So Members, if you have any colleagues in these areas, please recommend membership! We'll thank you with some great perks, including a free showcase sponsorship, if your recommendation becomes a member.

We loved getting to know Diana de la Vegaand, Danusia Quaranta and Eliza Livingston of the Villa Marco Polo Inn, who shared all about the Inn's history, their hard work since opening 10 years ago, and all the many services they offer.  Like they say, this stunning venue transports the bride and groom, as well as guests, to medieval Tuscany…with luxurious amenities replacing the inconveniences and aggravations of the past, and without the expense and bother of actually going to Tuscany!

And of course, the grand finale was our draw for a Summer Loving Basket, complete with a free night at the the Villa, a Couples' Photo-Shoot with Deanna McCollum Photography, plus breakfast, champagne and chocolates. Deanna McCollum did the honour of pulling the name of the winner, Jill, and we couldn't be happier for her.

Our next event is for Members and Wedding Industry Professionals. If you're curious about our WoW Events but haven't yet been to one, do come! We'll be focusing more on professional development and ways to make our businesses better, with fabulous guest speaker Dawn McCooey. We're excited to be meeting at the Ambrosia Conference & Event Centre, right in the heart of beautiful downtown Victoria. Members, if you'd like to RSVP, please do so here. Non-members looking for more information, please email us at info@victoriawow.com. And future brides, please stay tuned for our next Bridal Networking Event, coming up in October - please join our mailing list so we can tell you all about it!

And we're having lots of fun growing our WoW community online, too! We had lots of fun on Instagram with this event - we asked everyone to hashtag their selfies #victoriawow, and we had some really fun results!

Finally, thanks again to the Villa Marco Polo Inn for such an inspiring evening, and to Deanna McCollum Photography, whose relaxed, natural approach to photography once again has provided such beautiful photos for us to share.
