Magic Happens When Victoria's Top Pros Meet!

June 21st, 2016

What do you get when dozens of the city's top wedding and event professionals make time to network, even in the height of our busiest season? The answer, of course, is pure magic!

We were so excited to head back to the Ambrosia Conference & Event Centre for our June Event - we knew from experience that this seasoned WoW Member wouldn't disappoint! Their beautiful venue provided the perfect backdrop for networking and a great time. We enjoyed delicious appies and mimosas, and a warm, welcoming space right in the heart of downtown Victoria.

To learn more about what Ambrosia offers for weddings and events, please see here, with our highest recommendations!

We also got to experience something entirely new at our June event, thanks to new WoW Members and First-Time Showcase Sponsors Bubbles Balloons. To say that Bubbles Balloons simply decorates with balloons is an understatement. This new company takes balloon art to new levels, creating bouquets, arches and columns that bring out your inner child - and bring out the the beauty of your venue in the sweetest way possible. To see some more of their beautiful designs, please see here.

No WoW event would be complete without one of our highly talented photographer members to perfectly encapsulate it all. We're absolutely thrilled with the photos Juliana Wigmore of Spark & Whimsy Photography captured for us to share on this blog. Juliana says that her "clients value photography as an art form and want to document their lives with grace and beauty." If you think these photos are as beautiful as we do, you can get in touch with Juliana by contacting her at sparkandwhimsy@gmail.com or 778-677-2789.

And a very special thanks to Sarah Barnum of The Butchart Gardens! Sarah is one of our dedicated, intrepid Board Members, and she kicked off our event with a special presentation focused on how to pitch to clients quickly and effectively. Sarah is clearly an expert in her field, and she shared tips and strategies for identifying future clients, and communicating the professional, reliable services you can offer them.

After Sarah's presentation, it was time for a WoW favourite: speed networking! We spent the remainder of our morning practicing our 'elevator pitches' with each other. This is so helpful to get some practice for speaking with new clients. And getting feedback from wedding and events professionals who are at the top of their game is invaluable.

One of the many things that our members really value about WoW is that our meetings are focused and serious, of course, but also that our group is incredibly supportive, caring and engaged. More generalized networking groups can be intimidating, and networking with, say, bankers or car salesmen, isn't necessarily going to help us book more brides and grooms. But working with a relatively small, dedicated group of like-minded wedding and events professionals is a great way to learn, grow, and begin to offer even better services to our clients.

We ended our morning with some nice words from our hosts, and, of course, a big basket giveaway (congrats to Allan Nichols of the Fairmont Empress!). Thanks again to the Ambrosia Conference & Event Centre, Bubbles Balloons, Spark & Whimsy Photography and Sarah Barnum of The Butchart Gardens for a truly great morning.

And we're already looking forward to July's event. It's going to be a imitation same-sex wedding, to help us learn more about how to serve our LGBTQ2 clients better. All wedding and event professionals in the Victoria area are invited - learn more and RSVP here!
