A Breath of Fresh Air for WoW
Posted By Victoria WoW July 25th, 2013
WoW Members got a breath of fresh air at our
"Picnic in the Country"
Something TASTY, something KEEN, something LYRICAL and something GREEN.
This was the theme of WoW's July event, "Picnic in the Country," which took place at the gorgeous Kildara Farm in North Saanich. The team at Fresh View Events were our gracious hosts. As if the the idyllic natural beauty of the natural surroundings weren't enough, Sarah Hughes and WoW's Showcase Sponsor team offered up some inspiration to decorate for a sweet pastoral wedding.
Everywhere we looked the Farm had something charming, whimsical or picturesque to look at, and we couldn't help but begin to imagine what it would be like to host an outdoor wedding here.
Of course, the setting was captured picture-perfectly by Karen McNeil Photography, whose stunning images you are seeing throughout this post. She made our event look like a photo shoot for a magazine!
Laura Moore from Good For You Gourmet prepared delectable treats with ingredients sourced locally to honour our green theme. We can all agree her offerings would be ideal for casual, picnic-style wedding.
April Readie from Love Notes serenaded us with her talented vocals. We are envious of her gorgeous voice!
Getting to know each other better is a cornerstone of WoW Events. Upon arriving, WoW Members and Guests were invited to locate their "blanket team", and spent time learning more about each other's businesses. We shared our stories of weddings gone good... and bad. We stayed out of the sun with lovely parasols, and took in the lanscape around us.
We tested our knowledge of wedding trivia with tidbits like these:
- The average person falls in love 7 times before getting hitched.
- The average age for brides is 22.
- December is the most popular month to get married.
- The average wedding costs $28,000.
- The expression "tie the knot" originated from a Roman custom that referred to the many knots a groom needed to untie on his new bride's girdle.
We also tested our knowledge of our WoW Community, reminding ourselves what an amazing sisterhood of business leaders we represent in the wedding industry.
The team sitting on Blanket # 1 - which included Alida's Gowns, Courtney Clarke Photography, Karen McNeil Photography, and Tiers of Joy - won the trivia contest, and the beautiful prize basket to share amongst themselves.
It was truly a pleasure to spend some time in the beautiful sunshine with our WoW Community. I am sure we can all agree that this is definitely not your average networking group! Each event is a feast for the senses, and our "Picnic in the Country" was no exception.
Did you get a chance to plant those tomatoes you received as your event favour yet? Harvest season is coming soon!
Don't miss out on our upcoming August event!
WoW is celebrating our "6-Month Anniversary Bash-elorette Party". It looks like our splendid summer is holding, so we are keeping the festivities outside at the Cedar Ultra Patio at the Four Points by Sheraton Victoria Gateway.
Join us on Tuesday August 13th at 10am for a Speed Networking extravaganza.
