Jingle All the WoW!!
Posted By Victoria WoW December 17th, 2013
WoW's first annual Holiday Party was, by all accounts, a SMASH!
It was a joy to get together with the WoW Community for no other reason than to celebrate the best of the season. It was also a treat to bring our significant others in to see how we have been making connections in our industry. We are so proud of what we have accomplished this year, and we deserved to eat, drink and be merry with our friends and loved ones!
Big thanks to Monica Barrington-Foote and her fantastic team at Brun Body & Hair Bar for hosting WoW Members, the WoW Team, and our significant others. The two-story space filled with Old Victoria charm was ideal to keep the party flowing and the guests mingling.
We were greeted at the door by WoW Community Liaison, Aurezo Sanari. Her beautiful smile and bubbly personality is truly contagious, and set the atmosphere.
Founding WoW Member Sharon Rai - glowing like a "Christmas ornament" (her words, not mine!) - and her handsome husband Kal were on hand to welcome guests too.
Brun owner, Monica and her team were quick to relieve us of our cumbersome coats, and ushered us into the party like true hostesses.
On the first level, De Vine Vineyards set up a tasting bar. Helen Windsor sampled their award-winning white and red varietals. Guests were so impressed- a local success story to be proud of in the competitve world of wine-making! We look forward to seeing the winery in person when De Vine hosts an upcoming WoW Event in 2014.
Shirley Lang's team from Kitchens of Distinction were on hand to sample their Moroccan and Japanese-inspired Chicken hors d-oeuvres.
Jo Ann Hirschi from Tiers of Joy offered up some gorgeous temptations to satisfy our sweet tooth. She also provided the whimsical gingerbread people in the goody bags guests received on their way out.
Nichole Taylor Photography was a busy elf, snapping photos throughout the evening. Her images can be seen throughout this post, like this beautiful shot of Sandy Yoachim from Details. Thanks for capturing some lovely candid moments, Nichole!
On the second level, Santa's Bar offered a selection of other holiday-themed cocktails: Santa's Sleigh (rum & eggnog), Rudolph's Nose (Cranberry & Vodka), The Peppermint Stick (Kahlua & peppermint schapps). Thanks to Women of Weddings for sponsoring!
Monica kept it all in the family- she enlisted the help of her cousin Annie and little sister Maria to provide the music. A big thanks to Brun team members Caitlynn & Tajana, Santa's Saucy Little Helpers, for serving up the holiday cheer.
And what is a Holiday Party without opening presents? WoW Members, the WoW Team and the Showcase Sponsors were incredibly generous, providing over $5000 in prizes!
Karen Stones, A Sea of Bloom and Deanna McCollum, Deanna McCollum Photography each won a WoW Elite Membership (valued at $149). This additional level of membership to WoW increases your business' profile by offering you a featured post on the WoW Blog (the prize also included help to perfect your piece, by Andrea, WoW's Communications Director), additional promotion in the WoW Factor, and additional sponsorship of WoW's 2014 Charity Fundraiser.
Laura Moore from Good for you Gourmet won a consultation from SCRIBE Professional Writing to uncover her "why" and establish her brand identity.
Heather Bailey, Cooks Day Off and Tara McHugh, Tara McHugh Flora each won a $100 Gift Certificate from WoW's graphic designer Rhonda of Tea Tree Creative Graphic Design to design their ads for the WoW Website.
Andrea Ting-Letts, WoW Communications Director, won a gift card and chai tea from JJ's Coffee House, while her husband Ray won a $100 Gift Certificate from Nichole Taylor Photography.
Dorrie Murphy from Persona Video and Anita Voorsluys from Willowstream Spa each won a De Vine Winery Tasting for Eight.
Josephine Hoskins from Victoria Vintage China Rentals won a Gourmet Pastry Package from Tiers of Joy.
The last door prize of the evening was awarded to Sarah Barnum from Butchart Gardens, who won a bottle of wine from Sonya Jones Events.
Santa was so generous that no one left empty handed! WoW wanted to honour those business owners that have been a regular presence at WoW Events, those that have been committed to building this incredible network over the last 10 months. As a special gift of gratitude, every WoW Member in attendance received WoW's amazing Holiday Gift of three months of advertising (valued at $449)! We are so excited to add that extra visibility for your brand in the coming year, and continue to help to build your business in every way.
Happy Holidays from the WoW Team!
