Spring is in the Air!
Posted By Victoria WoW March 20th, 2013
We cannot believe that our second WoW Event is over! It seems like just yesterday we were bubbling with excitement over the first event. For those of you that attended, we hope you had as wonderful a time as we did.
For our second event we gathered almost 75 of the best wedding businesses in Victoria, taking place in the spacious Ball Room at the Four Points by Sheraton on March 12th.
It was a rainy day outside, but the stars were shining bright inside, with the coral color, fresh flowers, and white feathers. The room was decorated with our Spring theme, courtesy of Sandy Yoachim from Details Special Events & Decor. As the guests arrived, they were greeted with our signature event refreshment, the Spring Star, and a beautiful food display of unique and delicious culinary creations by Taste West Coast Catering.
We listened to the soothing voice of Geoffrey Lundstrom and his guitar, as we enjoyed the creative look of the photo lounge from Dante Di Ponio of Luna Photolounge. Jill Finerty, Sales & Marketing Manager for the Four Points by Sheraton, provided a tour of the hotel which allowed us to experience all the amenities this lovely hotel has to offer.
The event was captured by talented Nichole Taylor of Nichole Taylor Photography. Her beautiful images are featured throughout this article. Dorrie Murphy from Persona Video, immortalized the networking, learning, and sharing with Videography. Watch the Video!
Our spectacular Sponsors showcased the best services and products they have to offer to our Brides. We would like to give a special "thank you" to each of them, for inspiring us with their talents, and WoW-ing us with their expertise. Are you interested in being our next Showcase Sponsor? Email us at email@example.com.
Our goal for every WoW Event is to NETWORK, LEARN, SHOWCASE, SHARE and CELEBRATE our community of bridal businesses.
We thank you sincerely for your enthusiasm, support, and feedback, the community asked for more scheduled time for networking so we did just that. Everyone had a chance to get to know each-other, enjoy some refreshments, and look at the beautiful sponsor displays before & after the event.
We have also received great feedback on Social Media, and the Website - we have heard many members receive inquiries & bookings through our events, and website exposure, including a recent bridal booking from our first blog post - a few sponsors had received bookings from.
With our first activity we shared at our tables, a 'star' representing what goal we set out for, in our business, that we are most proud of and a ladder symbolizing what steps we took to achieve the goal.
We LEARNED what common goals we have, and learned different steps of reaching the goals and where we might be able to collaborate and support one another to grow our businesses as a community.
We welcomed a special guest to our event, expert business advisor Pauline Penner of JumpStart Business Solutions, who showed us how to create and pursue our goals.
WoW had the pleasure of Snap Magazine covering the event, we look forward to seeing the next issue. We also had a special guest, Shaw TV reporter, Suchetta Singh, who had beautiful make-up applied by WoW founding member Sharon Rai of Sharon Rai Hair & Makeup Artistry, covering our event with Wedding Tips & Mistakes, you can view the clip here, and see our Showcase Sponsors in action.
We had all members participate in a creative workshop on Goal Setting led by Pauline Penner to get us on track on our road to success. We learned valuable tips and simple approaches to keep us on course towards our goals.
She taught us how to turn our dreams into goals and those goals into action and the actions into SUCCESS.
The creative workshop helped WoW members accomplish their goals through an organized process. The goal was to have members start thinking about their business goals, and how other members are working on achieving common goals. Members worked in small groups that share the same goal, together creating steps of how they can achieve their business goal. By collaborating with one another, members are encouraged to utilize each other’s ideas and hone in on the steps needed to achieve success.
Each group presented there goal, to the community, and explained the steps that they need to take to achieve this goal. Pauline did a great job, a lot of members tweeted, blogged, facebooked and emailed - about how valuable she was, and how inspired they felt - and the feedback we have been getting is that each event has inspired them to apply things to there business.
The wedding community had a chance to win a Spring Fling in a Basket valued at over $1100. From generous contributions from each of the Showcase Sponsors, including accommodation in a Jacuzzi Suite, dinner, hair, makeup, photo session and many other treats for a relaxing weekend for two. WoW Member, Courtney Clarke of Courtney Clarke Photography was the lucky winner of the draw.
We look forward to our next event on Tuesday, April 9th at the Four Points by Sheraton 10 am to Noon, this event is Exclusive to Members Only, and is themed Mad Hatter's Tea Party. For our finishing exercise we had each member write down the answer to this question on their business card, ‘What is your one goal you want to achieve by next month?’ they gave their business card to someone in the room they had never met.
We hope everyone worked on the one goal, that they wanted to achieve. At our April WoW Event members will be checking in with their partners, to see where they are with there goal, and what steps they took to get there. View more images from the event on our WoW Facebook Page.
