WoW Members went MAD for our Tea Party!
Posted By Victoria WoW April 18th, 2013
Our April event didn't just get a big thumbs up from our WoW Members and special guests. We got delicate little pinky fingers up, toasting each other to a tea party gone MAD!
Why a Tea Party, you might ask? WoW is all about uncovering the latest trends in all things "wedding". Tea parties seem to be all the rage- for receptions, engagement parties, and bridal showers. The tea party as a theme is part traditional, part formal, and wonderfully whimsical. Perhaps we have been inspired by the recent spectacle of Will and Kate's celebrated nuptials, or perhaps it is our impassioned nostalgia for the stylized rituals as seen on Downton Abbey. Or maybe it is just an excuse to don an elaborate fascinator.
And in true WoW style, we didn't just drink tea. Leigh-Anne Stephenson from Taste West Coast Catering treated us to a fabulous signature cocktail as we made our entrance - a delicious concoction of frothy peach bubbles. The ballroom at Four Points Sheraton, our host venue, was outfitted to a "tea" by the creative Showcase Sponsor team. Featuring décor and props by Victoria Vintage China Rentals, our Mad Hatter Tea Party was perfectly adorned with detail we needed to enjoy the delectable edibles provided by Taste West Coast Catering. Tea sandwiches and sweet treats were served atop the finest of china, and accompanied by delightful teapots and cups.
Our event wasn’t simply a feast for our tastebuds. It was also a feast for all our senses.
We feasted our eyes on the gorgeous one-of-a-kind Mad Hatter-inspired hats created by our very own Jill Finerty, also known as the Four Point Sheraton's Sales & Marketing Manager. We also feasted our eyes on our own lovely "Alice", without whom no Tea Party guest list would be complete. "Alice" wore a stunning custom-designed dress by Brittany King of Elise Tonn Designs, and was groomed to perfection by Sharon Rai Hair & Makeup Artistry.
Keep feasting your eyes on these terrific photos of the event, shot by Elisa Thibodeau from SNAP Magazine and Elisita Photography. It is always fun to check out the newest issue of SNAP to see who you recognize!
Our ears experienced a feast of their own, with the romantic serenade by our feature musicians, the Respighi String Quartet.
Our focus activity was a feast for the mind. In keeping with our Mad Hatter theme, we shared with our WoW Community the many "hats" we wear as business owners. We learned more about the specialized services and products we offer, and who our ideal clients are. WoW Members specifically requested more time to get to know one another during our Events, so that we can be more informed about each others' businesses, and more effectively recommend one another to our shared clientele.
Our Mad Hatter Tea Party was, perhaps most importantly, a feast for the soul.
Our WoW Event doubled as a bridal shower for our dear friend "Sandy"- Sandy Merriman House, that is. This amazing community organization provides transitional housing and resources for homeless women and inadequately housed women in the Victoria area. Our special guests, Christine O'Brien and Cathy Percival, shared the story of Sandy Merriman house and how women in our community benefit from the resources offered. WoW and Sandy Merriman House extend a huge thanks for all the beautifully-wrapped gifts that our Members so generously showered to the women who utilize these vital services.
It’s us that should be thanking you for the opportunity to talk about Sandy Merriman House and spread the awareness. The gifts were so overwhelming; thank you everyone. We have a client that is currently undergoing chemo treatment for cancer; in one of the gift bags was a robe, slippers and towels. She was so appreciative of that gift, exactly what she needed to raise her spirits. Thank you so much for putting a smile on her face and the faces of so many other women.
